Healthcare Career College students had their first annual ‘I ♥ HCC’ event. The event was an Open House where students had the opportunity to show off their school and skills to their friends and family in the sweetest of ways.

The Open House took place on February 12, 2019. Healthcare Career College’s student council had been hard at work for the previous week planning the event’s every detail meticulously. For many of the student council members it was their first time planning for an event. This did not stop them from contributing creative ideas and coming up with the event’s theme, Valentine’s Day sweets! With the theme set the ideas and creative juices started flowing. One great idea followed the other and soon enough the event had been set into motion. Flyers were made to invite students from all programs and encourage them to invite their loved ones. The event was the perfect opportunity for students to invite those closest to them to check out their second home. It was also a great way for the students to learn more about the other programs

that the school has to offer.

As the family and friends made their way through the school’s hallways the student council members introduced them to the instructors and showed them the classrooms and medical labs. The instructors had set up stations where guests could get a hands on experience demonstration of what the medical students are learning. Mr. Arviso’s medical assistant classroom had stations set up where all visitors could have their vitals taken, their glucose levels measured, and even a demonstration of blood being drawn. Guests were enthralled as they observed their loved ones in a professional setting showing off the skills they had acquired in school.

As groups made their way over to Ms. Evangeline’s dental assistant classroom they were greeted by the buzzing sounds of the dental drills and suctions. The dental assistant students had an oral hygiene demo where they demonstrated the proper way to maintain healthy oral hygiene and explained some of the dental tools used along the way. Students from other programs, along with their friends and family, left with a dental goodie bag along with a better understanding of proper dental care.

All in all the environment was one of celebration as students, guests, and teachers all enjoyed their time shared together. Medical assistant students learned what it’s like to be an ultrasound student meanwhile phlebotomy students got to experience what dental assistant students learn in a fun environment surrounded by friends and family. A sense of pride and unity filled the air as students of all programs got the chance to show off what they have been hard at work while attending Healthcare Career College.
